The best pet-friendly activities to do this Easter Holidays
The long Easter weekend is quickly approaching, so pack your bags and prepare for exciting adventures with your pet!
Dogs are cherished members of our families, and including them is equally meaningful to pet owners. Easter is no exception, and dog owners can find plenty of fun and safe activities for their dogs to participate in the festivities!
What better way to spend that extra free time than with your best furry friend? Check out some fun things you can do with them below:
Go camping
There’s never been a better time to enjoy the great outdoors, and a camping trip with your four-legged friend could be just what you need.
Spend a day or two in nature with your pet to unplug and recharge. Plenty of campsites and caravan parks welcome humans and pets, so gather your friends and family or go on a solo adventure with man’s best friend. Because many camping trips are perfect for walking, it’s ideal for active pups (and owners!) who love exploring.
Here are a few of our camping essentials;
“Easter Egg Hunt”
You might be thinking – can I really set up an easter egg hunt for my dog?
Egg hunts are a delightful springtime event for children, but they’re not the only ones who enjoy hunting for treats. Organising a dog-friendly “egg hunt” is a terrific opportunity to test your pup’s sense of smell and scent game abilities. Best of all, you may put together egg hunts in your back garden or even inside your home if you get creative with your available space. Egg hunts with your dog are an excellent family activity as long as safety is a top priority. Here are some ideas for starting your doggy egg hunt this spring.
Because your dog uses their nose to identify rewards, choose goodies with an appealing smell that you know your dog likes. We recommend some smelly snacks fish 4 dogs and Carnilove for your hound’s hunt.
Dog walk
Stretch your legs and up your steps!
Have a free day this half term? Lace up your shoes and head outside to get some much-needed Vitamin D while on your daily walk! If you’re looking for a change of scenery, why not try a different route?
Before we get into all the trendy dog-walking accessories, you’ll need a way to carry your must-have things. Pack everything you need in a dog-walking rucksack or pouch ahead of time so you don’t have to spend time gathering everything when you’re ready to go. You’ll be out the door before you can say ‘W-A-L-K-I-E-S!’
It’s definitely not everyone’s favourite part of a walk, but make sure to remember poo bags on your journeys. We recommend the Adios Compostable Poo Bags because they are environmentally friendly, have zero waste, and are home-compostable.
After your newest adventure, we’re guessing your dog might need a bit of a cleaning. Whether they’ve been splashing through puddles, jumping into rivers or rolling around in the mud, some dogs have a habit of making a mess while out on a walk. Why not bring your mucky pups to get cleaned at our dog wash before returning home for a cosy night in?
Go for a beach walk?
There are few nicer venues for a day out with your dog than the beach. There’s simply so much for your dog to enjoy when you and your pup head to the beach. We’re talking about sun and sand, not to mention all the fascinating sights and smells to discover, as well as meeting new people and dogs.
You can get competitive and set up a game of catch or frisbee with your friends and family, including the furry ones. Or, set up a chair and read a book while your dog digs a hole in the sand.
Puppy Playdates
If your children have friends with dogs, you could organise a doggie date. Children are always happy to play with their friends’ pets; we’re confident your pets will also be! Meet somewhere neutral outside your home to introduce the dogs and ensure no one becomes territorial, then return to your home for water and a reward while the kids play.
A day without the kids? Do you want to meet new people? Bring your play date pups to our dog park in Abergele for FREE fun with all kinds of furry friends. Feeling hungry? After a frantic play session, join us in our café for some light refreshments at the bar. You may be amazed by our assortment of dog treats as well as some human goodies.

Eat Easter snacks.
As we all know, chocolate is harmful for dogs, so keep a close eye on them over the Easter season in case they get their paws on some. Read more here.
However, at Petplace, we don’t want your furry friend to lose out, so why not pick up your dog-friendly Easter Eggs.
Healthy, natural treats for your dog that are already in your kitchen? Yes! Many fruits and vegetables make wonderful treats for dogs, so there’s no need to go shopping when you can just peek inside your cupboards.
Here are our top three suggestions for a quick snack for your dog:
- Cucumber = Cucumbers are high in nutrients and make an excellent natural and nutritious dog food. Cucumbers are incredibly healthy and have very few calories, salt, and sugar.
- Apples = Apple slices are a healthy snack for your dog and can help keep your dog’s teeth clean and their breath fresh.
- Carrots = Carrots are high in vitamins and minerals, and most dogs will enjoy the taste of them too!
Spring and Easter are times to celebrate and appreciate the freshness of the world after a long winter.
