An Energiser is like the nucleus of the electric fencing kit - the heart and hub that sends out an electrical pulse to an insulated fence line at one second intervals which is then carried along the conductors. This is a non-rechargeable air-alkaline dry battery for use with B250, B250 solar and other 9v energisers. It is compatible for use with solar panel - this will increase the battery life by approximately 3-4 times. As a guide, a 55 Ah battery will last 55 days, the 90 Ah 90 days and so on. This is variable depending on the energiser and condition of the fence, etc. An electric shock occurs when an animal leans against the fence which acts as a switch allowing the current to pass through the animal to the ground back to the energiser to complete the circuit. If there is no charge left in the energiser, the electric fence becomes ineffective as there will be no electric current to prevent an animal escaping, rendering the electric fence useless.
