Enjoy a pet friendly Easter 🐣
With Easter weekend coming up soon, it’s the perfect time to make sure that we take our pets and their safety into consideration. A little planning ensures everyone in your family can be safe and enjoy the holidays.
Activities 🐶
Easter is an official sign that spring has finally sprung, which means that more people are eager to spend time outside in the fresh air surrounded by freshly bloomed flowers. An activity that you can do outside with your dog at easter is to create an easter egg hunt. Petplace sells dog safe easter eggs that you could hide around your garden and have your pooch sniff out. Click on the link below to see our easter eggs for dogs. Make sure to do this activity separately to your human easter egg hunt to ensure that your pet does not eat any human chocolate.
Alternatively you can hide strong smelling treats around the garden for your dog to enjoy hunting. This is beneficial for your pet as it will activate their natural hunting instincts and stimulate their brian. You can also do this activity with cats. Remember to spread the treats out over the course of the day so your pet doesn’t overeat.
Another activity you can do with your pet is to create and easter basket for them. This can be for all kinds of pets. You can fill the basket with toys, treats and games like lickimats or kong balls. Be sure to skip the plastic Easter grass which is a potential health hazard to dogs and cats.

Make easter treats! You can make your pooch a doggy cake and give it an easter twist by adding carrots. You can also cut the treats into Easter-themed shapes such as bunnies and eggs. If baking isn’t your thing you can pop into petplace and purchase some of our dog friendly cakes at our cafes. (Don’t forget we close early easter saturday and are closed all day easter sunday)
Safety tips 🧡
- All kinds of chocolate are toxic to dogs, make sure to keep chocolate and any treats away from pets.
- Fake grass that is usually used to fill the bottom of easter baskets can be dangerous to your pets, they can accidentally ingest the grass and not be able to digest it properly.
- Hot cross buns contain dried fruit which are poisonous to dogs and cats and can cause kidney damage, make sure to keep these out of reach.
