Sometimes, it's better to be cruel than to be kind. Anti Feather Pecking Spray is the perfect example of this. Most birds pluck their feathers to preen and groom themselves. However, there are cases in which the grooming process is taken a step too far. Anti Feather Pecking spray is extremely distasteful with a pungent odour. This smelly spray will protect birds from cannibalism and feather pecking, two very complex behavioural problems of poultry and birds worldwide. Predisposing factors of this horrible habit include tenosynovitis and other diseases which affect mobility, boredom and strain of bird. These horrible habits can lead to nasty skin conditions such as wounding and bacterial infection, which can lead to anaemia. That is why this super strong spray is needed to put a stop plucking and biting within approximately 1 week. Antibacterial agents have been added for minor skin abrasions caused by pecking to minimise infection and assist in skin regeneration, healing your birds as quickly as possible. Protect your birds with Anti Feather pecking spray. After all, old habits die hard. Size: 250ml Instructions: Shake well before use. Scaly Leg remover is an effective repellent that targets scaly leg parasites and provides immediate relief from itching and irritation. Scaly Leg Disease is a very common, highly contagious disease in poultry. Unlike other mites, the Scaly leg mites (also known as Knemidocoptes mutans) live out of site under the scales of the bird's leg, which makes it difficult to see until it has got good hold. Should Scaly leg get worse, it can cause lameness in birds, which is why it is important to have the right treatment on hand and know when to use it. Scaly leg remover is a specially blended formula which, when used, effectively controls the scaly leg parasites. The natural blend of oils and repellents form a protective barrier against the parasites, smothering and suffocating parasites that already live there. Itching and inflammation will be immediately relieved and further infestation will be prevented. Things to look out for: Visible signs of Scaly leg show symptoms such as scabs, lifted scales, a white dust over the scabs and open wounds caused by burrowing mites. Should Scaly leg worsen to Lameness, you may find birds limping and struggling to move. Seek veterinary expertise. Size: 250ml, 500ml Instructions: Shake the bottle well and remove all eggs, feed and drinking water before use. For Small Birds - Apply 1-2 trigger pulls per leg For Average sized Birds - Apply 5 trigger pulls per leg For Large Birds - Apply 10 trigger pulls per leg. Spray directly onto the leg/feet, comb and wattles to wet the infested areas. Repeat every 5-6 days to break the reproductive cycle, until the infestation is gone. All poultry owners know how important it is to keep their chickens in the best of health. It is therefore vital that a worm count test is carried out for the health and vitality of their girls. Test your chickens when they have not recently been wormed in case it gives a false reading. Test late in the year during or after the moult so that you know your birds are going into winter worm free. Test Jan-March ready for the breeding season. Test newly acquired stock. Test an individual that you are concerned about. A general check during the laying season. Worm problems in chickens can result in chickens being underweight, producing fewer eggs and generally looking under the weather. Doing a worm count will give you peace of mind. If they have worms, the problem can be treated. If they haven’t got any worms, you won’t have wormed them just for the sake of it. If you have just a few chickens, you might like to test each one individually, otherwise for a large flock you will need to send a composite sample. The Worm Count Kit is easy to use with fast results. To take a composite sample for testing: 1. Collect fresh droppings from several areas in the hen house using the large plastic bag. 2. Squeeze the bag to mix the droppings together. Fill the sample container using the mixed droppings. 3. Put your own name and sample name/number on the label. 4. Place the container and label inside the small plastic bag. 5. Place the small plastic bag with the completed voucher in the pre-paid padded bag. The test will show if the following are present in the sample: Coccidian Oocysts, Ascaridia eggs (roundworms), Capillaria eggs, any other eggs seen in the sample. Tapeworm eggs may not show up in a worm count because of the way that they are expelled. If you notice anything unusual that you are unsure of then please include it with the sample for checking. The service is quite speedy and is usually carried out on the day the test kit arrives. Results are available later by phone, fax, text or e.mail. Everything you need for the test is included in the package including a glove for collecting the sample. New compostable packaging with unique zero waste design. Contains a sample pot and full instructions on how to collect a sample from the field/stable. For worming advice, please feel free to contact our suitably qualified person (SQP).
Mr Johnson's Wildlife Swan, Duck and Goose food is a nibbly, crunchy and healthy complementary feed for Swans, Ducks and Geese. A walk down onto the riverbank on a warm summer's day, topped off a with a picnic... sounds like pure bliss. You might even be tempted to feed some of those left over crusts to our beautiful feathered friends, swimming hungrily towards you on the water. Feeding wildfowl is important, especially during times of natural food shortage. But if you knew the harm bread could cause to these beautiful birds, you might just put them in the bin instead. Feeding wildfowl along the riverside is an incredibly popular past time for children and families. In fact, we feed a staggering six million loaves of bread a year! The bread that is left uneaten in the water deteriorates, as usual, causing a large buildup of bacteria and attracting rats and other vermin. When wildfowl continue to swim along these waters, they are opening themselves to range of bad bacteria that can cause various disabling health problems. Not only that, but bread has no nutritional value whatsoever, meaning that a diet of bread alone will prevent these birds from eating a naturally balanced diet. Fortified with vitamins and minerals, Mr Johnson's Wildlife bird feed is a much healthier alternative for birds. A combination of wheat, soya and fish meal packed into tiny crunchy balls, they are small enough be scooped up easily by their beaks, unlike bread. This feed also floats on the water, meaning less wastage for you. Vitamin A will help the function of their eyes, respiratory and digestive system. Vitamin D will protect their bones and Vitamin E will serve and an antioxidant. All of these qualities will contribute to the health and vitality of these beautiful birds. Best of all, the food is incredibly delicious to them - these peckish peckers are bound to come back for more. Let’s protect these birds and bin the bread, once and for all.
