About the haylage: Vale Bale haylage is 100% natural meadow mix grass and is ideal for one or more horse/pony. They have many years experience in producing high quality haylage and we understand that quality forage is the most important aspect of the equine diet. Consistent quality Haylage The ambition is to produce high quality, consistent haylage. Vale bale Haylage is high in fibre with good levels of protein and low in sugar which is important for hoof,skin,and immune system health. The Haylage has a combined sugar and starch levels of between 7.5 – 8.2% on an as fed basis, which means that Vale Bale Supplies Haylage is suitable for all horses and ponies with or prone to laminitis. Vale Bale have the haylage analysed by an independent local company – Forage Plus ( http://www.forageplus.co.uk). They take the quality of our product very seriously. How the haylage is made Haylage is a grass crop that is cut and wilted in the same way as hay but baled one or two days earlier. All the stages of haylage production are carried out by ourselves allowing to harvest the crop at the correct time resulting in the best possible haylage. The big bales are multi wrapped and stored safely until a mild fermentation process is complete, producing a moist, dust free product. Once wrapped, nutrients level stay the same until opened. After a suitable period of time our large bales are quality checked and then packed into smaller vacuum pack bales. The haylage is densely compressed to extrude as much air as possible and heat sealed ensuring none of the quality is lost.
