Due to the nature of the hay being a natural product, the length and colour of the hay can vary from batch to batch, and may also contain brambles and thistles. Vale bale Hay has been analysed by an independent local company- Forage Plus (http://www.forageplus.co.uk) and has a combined sugar and starch levels of approx 7.6% on an as fed basis meaning that Vale Bale Supplies Dust Extracted Hay is suitable for horses and ponies with or prone to laminitis, which means you will not have to soak your Hay at all, meaning that water soluble nutrients such as vitamins and minerals, which are crucial for maintaining and supporting robust and resilient health won’t be rinsed out of the Hay. DE can be used on animals, pets and birds against external parasites (lice, fleas, mites), internal parasites (worms), and for general good health. Directions for use To use for long-lasting red mite and flea control Diatomaceous Earth should be used throughout the year as part of your hen house hygiene routine, preferably before you see any sign of red mite, as once they are visible to the naked eye the problem is much harder to control Apply liberally to your hen house once a week, depending on the level of infestation, in a thick layer around the inside edge of your hen house, sprinkle in the nest boxes and around perches in particular. Can also be sprinkled in their dustbath The most effective way to control red mite is to use a two pronged attack; firstly wash away the red mite's habitat with Poultry Shield or Smite liquid and then use Diatomaceous Earth for residual red mite control.
