Egg-e-bed can be used everywhere in your poultry house or chicken coop, on the floor and in the nest boxes. Lay out sufficient bedding that your birds can scratch, lay and rest. Provide enough bedding in the nest boxes for hens to arrange to their liking! To keep the coop or house clean, regularly remove droppings and wet patches. Egg-e-bed can be composted at home and will rot down quickly to make a nutritious garden fertiliser. Is Egg-e-bed fragranced? We add eucalyptus fragrance to our Egg-e-ned poultry bedding during the baling process. Our customers often remark on how it makes the coop smell fresh and reduces the ‘chicken-y’ odour. Is straw bedding more sustainable than wood shavings? Unlike wood shavings, no trees are involved in the production of Egg-e-bed. Pine trees can take between 25 – 30 years to reach harvestable size, whereas straw is produced every year, as a natural by-product of grain production. Egg-e-bed is made from wheat straw. The structure of straw means that it is highly bio-degradable. It rots down quickly to form a nutritious compost that releases nitrogen and other nutrients back into the soil when it’s used as a fertiliser in your garden. We source all our straw from local British farmers. This means we have full traceability on every bale that enters our production facility, and by using mainly local suppliers, we help to keep our carbon footprint as low as possible. Can I keep Egg-e-bed bales outside? Egg-e-bed poultry bedding bales are packed in a weatherproof covering but are not suitable for long term storage outside. Once open, keep Egg-e-bed bales under cover, for example in a shed or garage. Can I recycle the bale wrapping? The wrapping for our Egg-e-bed bedding is made from LDPE (low density polyethylene) plastic and contains 30% recycled plastic. You can recycle the bale wrapping where soft plastics are accepted. This includes many supermarkets and some local authority recycling centres. Please do not recycle at home.

About the Hay Vale Bale Meadow Hay is a mixture of grass species, made from permanent pasture and with this being completely natural forage it helps your animals maintain a healthy status as it is high in fibre and is highly palatable, therefore suits most dietary requirements. The hay is dust extracted as part of the packaging process. Due to the nature of the hay being a natural product, the length and colour of the hay can vary from batch to batch, and may also contain brambles and thistles. Vale bale Hay has been analysed by an independent local company- Forage Plus (http://www.forageplus.co.uk) and has a combined sugar and starch levels of approx 7.6% on an as fed basis meaning that Vale Bale Supplies Dust Extracted Hay is suitable for horses and ponies with or prone to laminitis, which means you will not have to soak your Hay at all, meaning that water soluble nutrients such as vitamins and minerals, which are crucial for maintaining and supporting robust and resilient health won’t be rinsed out of the Hay. Our bales are ideal for feeding one or more horses. It is popular due to the ease of handling and storage and is ideal for both travelling and around the yard.

Directions for use To use for long-lasting red mite and flea control Diatomaceous Earth should be used throughout the year as part of your hen house hygiene routine, preferably before you see any sign of red mite, as once they are visible to the naked eye the problem is much harder to control Apply liberally to your hen house once a week, depending on the level of infestation, in a thick layer around the inside edge of your hen house, sprinkle in the nest boxes and around perches in particular. Can also be sprinkled in their dustbath The most effective way to control red mite is to use a two pronged attack; firstly wash away the red mite's habitat with Poultry Shield or Smite liquid and then use Diatomaceous Earth for residual red mite control.
