The Honeyfields Nyjer Seed Wild Bird Food is a highly desired bird food for goldfinches, amongst other birds. It is a good value, quality food. Nyjer seed needs to be placed in a nyjer seed feeder. Please ensure that there is plenty of cover for birds in case of predators so that the birds can hide while the danger passes.
Nyjer seed is an oily seed that offers an excellent source of energy but, if it is allowed to dry out, garden birds may not eat it. It can also get mouldy very easily and will become a health hazard if not removed from the feeder. It is important that the nyjer feeder is kept clean, as with all feeders.
It is essential that birds are fed all year round, not just in the winter as they need energy to get them through the different seasons for reasons such as nesting time in the spring when they also have chicks to feed.
