Mr Johnson's Advance Hamster and Gerbil food is a superior complementary feed for all breeds of hamsters and gerbils. This food is full of essential vitamins and minerals including Verm-X which is a 100% natural blend of herbs and is used as a natural way to control intestinal hygiene.

Hamsters and gerbils enjoy foraging. By feeding them a variety of appropriate food and hiding it around the cage will meet their natural need to forage. They are omnivores and should be fed a small portion of suitable fresh fruit and vegetables. They should also be fed lean, cooked meat twice a week. Look after your little friend and he will be healthy and full of life. Go on, make his day - after all, he is special.

This balanced and nutritious food includes:
- Essential fatty acids for healthy skin and coat
- Pre-biotic for a healthy gut
- Protein for cell, tissue and organ function
- Fibre to assist normal digestive function

Gnawing on the crunchy nuggets will help to keep their teeth trim and healthy. Hamsters and gerbils have front teeth that grow continuously and need to be checked often to ensure that they are not causing a problem. This problem is usually sorted out by having something crunchy to chew on. If your pet is still having problems with his teeth, please take him to a vet to have his teeth looked at.

Feeding Guide: Growing Adult Lactating

Gerbil 5 – 9g/day 4 – 8g/day 10 – 15g/day
Hamster 6 – 10g/day 5 – 9g/day 12 – 20g/day
Dwarf Hamster 3 – 6g/day 2 – 5g/day 6 – 10g/day

To overcome selective feeding, it is preferable to feed your hamster or gerbil twice a day, dividing their daily requirements into two portions, feeding one portion in the morning and the other in the evening. Selective feeding is when your pet is given his food at one sitting and picks out his favourite bits, leaving the rest, often missing out on vital nutrients. If he is fed twice a day, he will be quite hungry at the first sitting and eat everything and will probably still be hungry enough to eat everything at the second sitting.

A change in their diet should be introduced over seven days to avoid digestive upsets. This can be done by replacing some of their existing food each day with the new food until, by day seven, the food is fully changed over.

Hamsters and gerbils must have access to clean, fresh water at all times.

This food should be stored in a cool, dry, dark place in a sealed container.
