ProRep Straw Bedding is 100% natural and perfect for tortoises, lizards and large snakes that originate from arid habitats. This natural substrate is produced in the U.K. and is ideal for enclosures that require dry substrate. It is made from chopped straw and compressed into pellet shapes that are safe and non-toxic. Pop some of these pellets into your tortoise's dwelling or lizard's vivarium for a comfortable layer of bedding. If these pellets become wet and disintegrate, it is quite normal and safe for your pet to eat them. Reptiles and tortoises enjoy foraging and digging and this substrate will provide a realistic habitat for them with the bonus of being totally edible - a win win situation.
Ensure you have the correct substrate for your type of pet as some reptiles prefer a more humid environment and need substrate that reflects this.
Directions:
Spread the substrate evenly over the bottom of the enclosure to a depth of at least 1 - 2” (2.5 - 5cm). Spot-clean daily by removing soiled or wet substrate and replacing it. Used Straw Bedding should be disposed of and replaced every 2 weeks, or more often if heavily soiled. This substrate should only be used dry and wet areas will need to be spot cleaned. If you are using an under-tank heat mat as your heat source, do not use a thick layer of Straw Bedding as this may cause the heat mat to overheat.
