Description
Reptiles are among the planet's oldest creatures and, having been around for nearly 200 million years, it's safe to say that they have evolved. Nowadays, people enjoy keeping various reptiles as pets; Bearded Dragons, Corn Snakes and Pythons, to name a few. In order to attempt to recreate their natural habitat within Vivariums and Terrariums, we need to know everything from what food they eat, which bedding they require and even the level of heat they require in their home.
While reptiles are very different in many ways on the outside, they all share something in common. Mammals are able to regulate their body temperature from within, whereas reptiles maintain and regulate their body temperatures by relying on their natural environment. They will use the Sun and the shade to remain warm or cool. That is why it is so important that we get the temperature right within their enclosure, mimicking their natural environment as closely as possible.
This Basking Spot Lamp creates a hotspot for basking species, increasing ambient air temperature in their enclosure and encouraging natural thermo-regulatory behaviour.
With various sizes and Watt measurements available and with easy to use screw-fitting, it is important that you choose the correct one for the size of the enclosure; larger Vivariums will require larger lamps. Full instructions on how to use the lamp correctly and safely can be found on the packaging. Remember to always use a heater guard and thermostat (sold separately), so that you can track and manage the temperature throughout the day. A heater guard will protect the reptile from burns. Shine a light on your reptile's life and keep him toasty and warm with the ProRep Basking Spot Lamp.
