Description
Barley is an important part of many horse's diets. With a high level of calories and over 80% digestible it is a quality feed and very cost effective.
We only use the finest barley available. It is a pale golden colour and is free from dust and debris.
As some horses don't like the taste of barley, it can be fed with added molasses or even cooked to satisfy those fussy eaters. If you crush your own barley before feeding it to the horse, always ensure this is done just before feeding as the nutrition value of the barley declines over time after crushing. It is also a good idea to mix the barley with other feeds such as chopped hay or bran to ensure your horse gets a healthy balanced diet.
As with all animal feed, it should be stored in a dry, cool area away from sunlight. A food storage container would be perfect.
