Description

When setting up a vivarium for your snake, lizard, spider or amphibian, it is important that his new surroundings reflect his natural environment as near as possible. The ProRep coarse Bark Chips are perfect for using as substrate for species that require a humid environment. Put down a depth of about 5cm and your fascinating friend will revel in its touch, doing a site inspection to explore every inch of his surroundings. When he’s happy that all is o.k., he will nestle down and do what he does best, basking and anticipating his next meal.

Snakes can be quite fussy when it comes to the type of bedding that is put down for them. You will know if your exotic little friend is unhappy as snakes and reptiles are quite sensitive to their surroundings and they won’t quite be themselves. A happy reptile is a responsive and healthy reptile.

ProRep Bark Chips is harvested from commercially grown forests in the U.K. and Europe. It helps to provide a suitable environment for all species that require high humidity by absorbing water and releasing it slowly back into the atmosphere. Its firm, but loose texture allows animals to burrow if they want while remaining stable enough to support cage furniture.

Ensure you have the correct substrate for your type of pet as some reptiles prefer a more humid environment and need substrate that reflects this.

Directions:
Spread the substrate evenly over the bottom of the enclosure to a depth of at least 2” (5cm). Bark Chips can be moistened to provide extra humidity, but avoid making them too wet or waterlogged as this will cause them to rot and produce unpleasant smells. As they dry out they can be sprayed to maintain the required moisture level. The enclosure should be spot cleaned daily by removing soiled areas of substrate and replacing with fresh bark chips. The bark chips should be replaced every two or three weeks or more frequently if it becomes heavily soiled. If you are using an under-tank heat mat as your heat source, do not use a thick layer of Bark Chips as this may cause the heat mat to overheat.

Returns & Refunds

An order can be cancelled once placed, if the order has not been dispatched with our couriers.

If your item has already been dispatched or processed with our couriers please be aware that we will refund your original delivery charge when a product is faulty or damaged, but not when a product is simply unwanted.
