Description
Training a dog is a long but rewarding job. Certain breeds learn quicker than others. Some might take forever whilst others will have mastered a move in minutes.
The most successful training technique ever practised is Positive Reinforcement training. Using treats, toys and praise as bait, dog owners will use anything from clickers, whistles and even their own voice to action a command. The reward that follows will help the dog understand that performing that command when actioned will result in a reward each time. And henceforward, he has learnt the command!
The Coachi Whizzclick is both a whistle and clicker combined, meaning that you can switch between the two depending on what action you are commanding. The elastic strap will allow you to keep the whistle securely around your wrist.
Your dog will need to know that the sounds mean that a reward will follow. A simple way of starting this is by giving your dog a treat whilst pressing the clicker. That way, whenever he hears it, he will associate the sound with a reward.
As for the whistle, the main use is to communicate the commands you are likely to need when your dog is some distance away from you. Your dog needs to truly believe that returning to you is a rewarding and pleasurable experience; blowing the whistle and having him return to you will result in a reward.
Consistency and repetition is key. After a few days/weeks, you should start to notice your dog looking back to you for his reward each time he hears that sound. Eventually, you won't need to offer treats all the time, as he will look to you each time he is signalled. That will save a few pennies!
The packaging contains a leaflet with a useful dog training guide; if you are a beginner, read this carefully, as you may find it useful. Remember all dogs are different, therefore patience is key. You never know, your pooch might just surprise you!
