A sturdy rubber base supports the main body of the muzzle. Double hooks and loop fasteners on the headpiece provide security, helping you to fasten the muzzle snuggly around your horse's nose and mouth. The clip throat lash allows easy fitting and greater stability. There is also a metal loop on the bottom of the muzzle for the attachment of a lead rope.
The fabulously soft fleece padding will provide comfort, reducing the chance of the muzzle rubbing and preventing sores and irritated skin.
Is your horse puzzled by muzzles?
To avoid your horse getting in a fuzzle with his muzzle, introduce the muzzle gradually, frequently rewarding his good behaviour for wearing it. Positive reinforcement will help your horse to relax as he wears it. This can be achieved by placing small treats through the hole in the front of the muzzle, each time you put the muzzle on and take it off. Feed grass through the hole too, so that your horse gets the idea that he is able to eat grass whilst wearing the muzzle.
Ensure that your horse is comfortable whilst eating and drinking with the the muzzle and be sure not to leave the muzzle on for extended periods of time.
Although wearing a muzzle is important for weight management, it is also important your horse receives enough fibre in his diet in order to maintain digestive health. Always speak with a veterinary expert if your are unsure.
