The Best Dog-Friendly Pubs In North Wales
Where are the best dog-friendly pubs in North Wales?
North Wales is the center of activities and adventure. It’s the perfect place to get out and about with your four-legged friends. No matter what time of the year it is, Summer, Spring, Autumn, or Winter. One of the best ways to finish off a walk is by heading to a local pub and being able to bring your dog with you.
North Wales has some of the most dog-friendly pubs ready to welcome both you and your four-legged friends.
Y Stablau – Stables Bar
If you’ve been exploring the Welsh mountains of Snowdonia or exploring the quaint village of Betws- y- Coed. Where better to stop for a bite to eat and a thirst-quenching drink than the Y Stablau – Stables Bar. This nice little pub is set in the middle of Betws-y-Coed and is a stone’s throw away from the river should you want to walk off your food before moving on. Also giving your pooch an opportunity for a toilet break and the opportunity for some fresh country smells.
Y Stablau is one of the most dog-friendly pubs in North Wales with an indoor and outdoor space for your best friends to relax. Have a refreshing drink of water from the dog water bowls available. As well as a delicious dog treat to regain whatever energy was lost on the walk.
Unfortunately, Stables bar does not take bookings so you are not guaranteed a seat. However, if you have to wait you couldn’t be in a nicer area filled with beautiful scenery.
Alpine Coffee Shop
Not a pub but, we hear the Alpine Coffee Shop is a firm favourite with our four-legged friends. Not only do they have a selection of delicious human foods. But they also have a special treat for our furry friends on their menu. Along with water bowls which are perfect after a busy day of exercise and exploring. Especially if their humans are enjoying some mouth-watering food whether that be vegan, vegetarian or meat.
Located beside the railway station in Betws-y-Coed, it’s easy to hop on and hop off. If you are driving there is a car park close by along with other spaces throughout the village making access easy.
The Mulberry
If you find yourself walking the walls of Conwy, strolling through the village or nearby beaches then why not take a break and head to the Mulberry with your four-legged friend? This is a great spot, especially on a summer’s day.
With stunning views of the marina. This makes the list of dog-friendly pubs in North Wales and is an excellent place to sit, chat and relax. Plus, if the weather decides to change there is a small dog-friendly indoor section to keep you both dry.
Hickory’s Smokehouse
Hickory’s in Rhos-On-Sea is a brilliant place to go for food or drinks and include your four-legged friend. Not only do they serve delicious foods but they also have a dog station set up for your pooches. This was designed by yours truly, us here at petplace. So of course, a lot of thought and consideration went into the design. Making sure your dogs have all they need when out and about. For example dog bowls, treats, toys to keep them entertained and dog beds to keep their soft bodies nice and cosy. The outdoor area in Hickory’s have outdoor heating to keep you all warm when the weather takes a turn.
The Queens Head
The Queen’s Head is Glanwydden’s hidden treasure, this cosy pub is a great place for you and your dog throughout all the seasons. It’s the perfect spot during the warmer months with a great outdoor area allowing both you and your pooch to cool down after a nice long walk.
The friendly staff have water at hand for your furry friend and if they are well behaved there may be some treats involved. This little pub is also a great dog-friendly place during the winter months when it’s colder outside. Dogs are allowed in the snug area at the side where an open fire will keep you both warm on the colder evenings.
The Pen-y-Bryn
A welcoming homey place filled with cosy warm open fires during the winter months and offers spectacular views throughout the year. Pen-y-Bryn is a wonderful place to stop with your dog for a bite to eat or a sociable drink, and is one of my personal favourite dog-friendly pubs in North Wales.
Depending on how you spend your Sundays, it’s the perfect spot after a long walk to head on inside and have a delicious roast dinner whilst your pup enjoys their treats and water.
The Kings Head
This is a dog-friendly pub with history, the only pub standing in Llandudno from the late eighteenth century. A place of meeting for local copper mine workers to collect their wages. The Kings Head is located in the perfect location for anyone visiting Llandudno with their dog. Standing at the bottom of The Great Orme after a long trek around or up this giant piece of rock, the pub is the ideal place to call in for a thirst-quenching drink or a bite to eat to get those energy levels up. Dogs are welcome both inside and out, it is extremely popular for walkers to pop in at the end of their day, watching the famous Llandudno goats wandering up and down or listening to the owls singing out in the evening.
Tal-y-Cafn
Tal-y-Cafn is a charming restaurant that welcomes dogs both indoors and out. Located just outside of Conwy, it is the perfect place to stop for those exploring the mountains, countryside, and beaches in North Wales or for an afternoon treat that enables you to bring your four-legged friends. If you fancy a stay after a long day on your feet and paws they also accommodate dogs, allowing them to stay in the rooms on site ensuring you can all have the perfect night away together.
The Blue Bell
If you are looking for a vegan menu but also a place that allows your dogs, then look no further than The Blue Bell in Conwy. With a tasty menu of pub food set in a relaxed environment, this is a great bar to eat and enjoy some good live music. They also have an outdoor area set with adorable lighting and colourful plants.
The Albion Ale House
If you are looking for a more rustic setting then pop into the Albion Ale House in Conwy. Another popular dog-friendly pub that offers treats and water to tired-out pooches. This is a grade two listed building retaining some of its original features from the 1920s. After exploring Conwy castle and other local areas, you don’t have to look too far for the Albion Ale House as it is pretty central to the small village of Conwy.
The Sun Trevor
Llangollen welcomes many adventurers and their four-legged companions, especially with the six-mile canal work which many opt for and there is no place better to unwind after than The Sun Trevor. This cute 18th-century country pub is dog friendly which is great for adventurers who like to go exploring with their four-pawed pals. With a friendly atmosphere, they like to welcome the whole family. They have a supply of dog treats, water bowls, and dog beds, they even have areas set up for those dogs that might need some peace and quiet. Voted by the public the pub was named ‘Wale’s most dog-friendly pub’ in 2019. The co-owners have their own dog Poppy so understand the importance of having a place to be able to include your dogs.
Sandy Mount House
Fancy a trip to the beach with your four-legged friend but have nowhere to go after? Sandy Mount House is here to answer all your problems. Not far from the beautiful beach that is Rhosneigr. Is this delightful building that allows dogs into the bar and the front terrace. On a lovely summer’s day this is a great spot to sit and relax. The added bonus about Sandy Mount House is if you want to turn your day into night and stay overnight. They have four dog-friendly rooms that allow your dogs to stay over in.
