Dog, Just for Fun
Forget the Super Bowl, It’s All About the Puppy Bowl!
I’m a massive fan of American culture, and so always stay up late to watch the Super Bowl, but did you know there is another big game that takes place on the same day…Puppy Bowl!
Puppy Bowl is an annual television show by Animal Planet which is a cuter take on the well known American Football television event, the Super Bowl. The show features a number of puppies from shelters playing and frolicking inside a miniature stadium, along with a humorous commentary of the goings-on. Here are just a few of the puppies that will be featured at Puppy Bowl X – Behind the scenes, it can take up to 12 hours a day to collect the footage for the game, with the puppies having a rest period after every 30 minutes due to the heavy lighting. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the event, and a total of 66 puppies will play. Peanut butter is often used on camera lenses and toys to encourage play by the puppies in certain objects. Here are some highlights of last year’s game –
The show even features a Kitty Half-Time Show, in which the stadium is cleared of puppies and a large scratching post is brought out with a larger selection of cat toys. However, it takes a lot of catnip to entice the kittens to play with their surroundings. So which of the players is your favourite? Let us know in the comments!
